Read Drea’s Interview below:
- What is Holistic Health? - Holistic Medicine (according to Webster’s Dictionary) attempts to treat the mind and the body. So “holistic health” refers to complete health - mentally, physically, and spiritually.
- What is your inspiration? - God is my inspiration. LOL Seriously, I went to my school to write a book. I didn’t think that I would become a Health Counselor. However, once I understood what a holistic health counselor was, tried it and saw positive results in those I helped, I knew it was a career that I can excel in.
- Where did you study?- I go to school at the Institute for Integrative Nutrition. I will graduate on June 21st.
- Have you experienced a time in your life when you were purposely not winning? - I have experienced plenty of times when I felt as if I wasn’t winning on purpose. That still happens to this day. Most of the time, people procrastinate because of fear. I still have fears, however, now I am aware of them and face them so that I can move forward.
- What was your inspiration to Win Now ?- Momentum Education. They gave me the tools to see who I truly am, how I act and react to situations and how I can do things differently so that I can have the outcome I want to have. The desire was always there. They just gave me a rag so that I can wipe my rose colored glasses to see it.
- What would you say to women who are working to win now in their lives? - “Do it.” Don’t talk about it in the future tense. As (grown) women, to try is to fail. Think about it, if you do something and it didn’t work out, that’s understandable. You put in your 100%. However, if you “try,” you don’t exactly put in 100%. If you don’t put in 100%, you can’t ever expect to get back 100%. Even if you “do” something and you don’t get back what you put in, it’s fine because you know you did your due diligence.
- As far as holistic health is concerned what are some early steps to winning?- There are a couple of early steps. One is to take it slow. Becoming healthy takes time. Physical health is one thing. Imagine combining getting your mind right AND your spirit right at the same time. That’s a lot of work! If you think it’s going to be a quick transformation, you’ll be back were you started sooner than you can say “holistic.” Second, have patience. Holistic Health is all about figuring out what’s right for you. If you’re going to give your body a chance to speak, listen. The journey of being healthy is like learning a new language. You have to know when you’re mind is speaking and when you’re body is speaking and then you have to translate your body’s messages into something you (your mind) can understand. The third step is to stay positive. On your journey, you’ll crave a lot of things. Eat them and don’t feel guilty about it. If you fall off the wagon and gain some weight back, don’t get depressed. Get right back up and keep on going! Like I mentioned before, if you “try” then you’re not giving 100%. The reason is because you have given up before reaching the finish line. When you “do,” you don’t give up. You keep on going until you reach your goal. You’re not reaching your goal? That’s fine. Figure out another strategy. Staying positive throughout it all will help you attain and maintain your goals. Winning isn’t always about getting to the finish line. Sometimes, it’s about what you learn on the journey to the finish line.
- Where do you blog?- My blog is mainly on Blogger but I transfer it to WordPress. My blog is called Fight dis-ease! through Holistic Health and the url is www.dorightforyourself.org
- Can questions be posed directly to you?- Of course! You can ask me questions directly by sending an email to drea@dorightforyourself.org or Instant Messengering me at SeeLaH80 (AIM), dread8080 (yahoo), or indica8@hotmail.com (MSN). You can also comment on my blog.
- When will you be available to answer questions or comments on this blog?- Most of the time, I can answer questions as soon as I get the correspondence. However, there are times when I’m really busy. Those times, it will take a week, tops.

I love what you said about the journey to health being a process. I think I’ve often measured my steps by other people’s journeys which added to the weight of personal failure. I am learning that I have to be realistic about where I am and move forward from there! THANKS for speaking life!

Memeeflye,
Thanks for commenting. Measuring what you do by other people is a sure fire way to fail! When I did my Yoga in the Park class, I asked the ladies to repeat this mantra:
I will not compete with others. I will not compete with myself.
You should repeat this mantra whenever you feel like you’re comparing your success (or failure or in between) to someone else. You are YOU. Enjoy being an individual. Once you realize this and do everything according to this mantra, things will definitely fall into place.
You’re welcome and good luck on your journey. This blog is great support and I’m glad I’m a part of it.
Bless.

Holistic approach to health is so old and yet so effective. It is a shame that the medical profession does not seem to have embrassed a holistic approach
The lack of a holistic approach is a major problem in my industry, the weight loss industry
So many pills and supplements out there focussed on just weight loss. Some people even take water tablets [diuretics] just to lose weight
Is it not simple common sense that an approach that targets the total well being of the individual ie healthy foods and exercise, is the way to go?
